As is my yearly tradition, I am sharing my favorite albums and songs of 2022! The list is in ranked order, so the albums and songs higher up in the lists (and with lower numbers) are the ones I liked better. What were your favorites? My Favorite Music of 2021

2021 may have ended last week, but alas — my list was not ready. Oops. As with many things in 2021, things didn’t quite go according to plan. It’s been a busy and rough year — albeit with some very good personal news to cap it off! Nevertheless, there was lots of good music that kept me sane this year (though I liked 2020’s releases better!).

As is my yearly tradition, I’ve ranked and written about my favorite albums and songs of the year. The list is in ranked order, so the albums and songs higher up in the lists (and with lower numbers) are the ones I liked better.

Now that 2020 is over, it seems like as good a time as any to inflict you with my obsessive year-in-review list-making. I’ve ranked my albums and songs of the year, starting with my favorites and then moving on to the runners-up. This list existed on Facebook, but I wanted to move it here for posterity.

What I have listed here are my favorite songs and albums from the last decade. As such, all albums and songs in this list were originally released between 2010-2019! The lists are in ranked order, so the albums and songs higher up in the lists (and with lower numbers) are the ones I like better.

The Year in Mixtapes: 2020 Edition

Welcome to my new blog! As was previously my annual tradition on Facebook, I am sharing year-end mixtapes to celebrate the year in music.

I have made a series of five mixtapes to celebrate the end of the year. The mixtapes have been made with attention paid to listening mood, thematic coherence, and overall flow, rather than strict adherence to genre. As always, all of the songs in these mixtapes are from 2020. The mixtapes are each roughly an hour in length.

The songs within each mixtape are best enjoyed in the order they appear, so I suggest not putting them on shuffle (though you do you!). I have provided individual Spotify links below should you desire to stream the mixtapes. You can also listen to a continuous megamix of all five mixtapes on SPOTIFY or on YOUTUBE.

For anyone who wants some nostalgia (or to discover some slightly less new tunes!), I also did mixtapes for 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and a 2007-2011 retrospective. I also made a pair of space-themed mixtapes in summer 2017! IMHO these annual mixes get better every year. I hope you enjoy listening to these as much as I’ve enjoyed making them! I also hope you will discover and enjoy some new music in here.
